pre-Blog flashback... dateline 4/2/2002

As I was getting ready for our pending trip, I happened to "sort" my work email popped up to the top of the list. it's the note I'd sent to my teammates at work when we got the news that Preston had been born in 2002. So I thought I'd share...

As some of you may know, my wife and I had planned a trip to Las Vegas this week.... well - you might say that we "hit the jackpot" before our plane left Midway.

Kim and I have been trying to adopt a baby for just over two years and on Saturday morning, we received that phone call we had been waiting for.

Preston James was born on Friday, March 29 at 9:48 a.m. He weighed 6 pounds & 11 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long.

We got to see him for the first time Sunday and we brought him home last night.

He is a very healthy baby --- he's got great lungs for calling for Mom & Dad at night, and strong legs for kicking off his diapers.

For those of you that have known about our journey towards growing our family, thank you very much for your thoughts, prayers and support - both emotionally and, from a work perspective - practically (the "to" list of this note is a "who's who" of HR generalists and my UM's)

To continue with the practical side, I will continue my vacation this week - and then work with Barb, Cindy and Laureen to figure out my schedule after that.
