Weigh-In

43 lbs... 39 lbs... 40 lbs... so far so good. When you fly United, you can have 2 checked bags / person at 50 pounds each. When you're flying in-country China, you only get 44 pounds PER PERSON. So with 3 carry-ons weight less than 44 pounds each, we'll be OK for 2/3 of our in-country travel. As for that last trip (or actually, the first flight - before we get our 3rd travelmate Jillian for the rest of the flight), well - we'll pay whatever "overweight" charge we have. And imagine, some people actually try to go to China with carry-on bags only. Yeah right.

Tonight we had our last U.S. dinner (BBQ!) and have been doing some last minute packing... and re-packing... and re-packing... and checking and re-checking the list. I joked at dinner that this might be the last good meal I get for 2 weeks since, despite how much I like "Western" Asian food, I'm really a relatively picky eater. Although, I poked around on The White Swan's website and also a couple websites for the Jiangxi Hotel in Nanchang (including this one) and I'm not that worried about the food anymore.

I have a half dozen work-related emails to fire off while the girls are having glasses of wine watching TV, so we're definitely starting to wind down for the night here in Bakerland. The mood is pretty mellow as Kim and I prepare for our trip tomorrow.
